Hiking Registration

All hikers staying one night or more on the trail are asked to register at least 3 days in advance of their planned outing. Registration requires that hikers designate a person who will contact emergency services at 911 if they do not exit the trail on the scheduled date. Registration also includes a flat $25 fee per person to support the trail. Please carry a proof of registration while on the trail.

A registration form can be found at the bottom of this page but beforehand take a few minutes to review the charts immediately below. They show the number of thru hikers already registered, their departure dates and which trailhead they plan to depart from - either Daly Point (blue columns) or Mt. Carleton (orange columns). To avoid crowding, just pick a departure date/trailhead with no, or few, registrations.

If you are a multiday hiker, you may not be using the trailheads as your departure or arrival points. However, the charts can still help you avoid busy periods.

The Last Date to Register

The last date for registration is October 15th and multi-day and thru hikers must complete their trips by November 1st. Please take note that Mount Carleton Park typically closes around mid-October. Hikers arriving after this date will have an additional 11 km walk to get from the trailhead at Bathurst Lakes (Access U) to the Park’s main gate.
